Lighting Creatively: The Path to Seeing – Ralph Clevenger
This seminar will take you through a series of visual exercises designed to move you past what you’re looking at and help you to actually see the possibilities a scene has to offer. That’s step one.  Then we’ll look at how you can use lighting to make your vision truly unique. The goal is to understand what most images with the “WOW” factor need to be created.

In Search of Sharpness: Maximizing the Creative Power of Depth of Field – George Lepp
In the digital age, photographers can overcome some of the most vexing photographic problems of the past. Today we can control and precisely place the depth of field (areas of sharpness) within our images, and new techniques and software allow us to achieve virtually unlimited depth of field with subjects from high-magnification macro to vast landscapes. In this seminar, George explores the creative power of depth of field in a variety of photographic situations and demonstrates innovative stacking techniques and software that will help you to achieve unlimited sharpness in your images.

Stitching Your Way to Beautiful Panoramas – Tim Mathiesen
Panorama photographs, once only possible with special format cameras, can now be created with any digital camera. This program will take you through the creation of beautiful pans using your favorite camera and software. Whether you are using a high end DSLR, a point-and-shoot or your smart phone, you will learn how easy it is to create panoramic images.

During the program, we will discuss equipment, accessories, exposure and techniques that will make stitching simple and fun. We will actually create a pan while you watch. Software will be discussed, as well as plug-ins that will make your images even more beautiful. Come prepared to learn the simple techniques that will enhance your landscape photography.

Learning to Edit Your Photographs – Ian Shive w/ JP Harrison
Everyday the sales team at Tandem Stills + Motion, Inc. receives thousands of images from photographers around the world and every day, selects are made that will help drive sales for those photographers. The process of curating or editing imagery is an art form that is rarely taught but in this hour long seminar, the Tandem team will talk about how the everyday photographer can select which frames from a shoot are the best frames, whether for your portfolio or for future sales of your images. Subtle creative nuances make a major difference and the team will explain these important details including composition, quality, story and technique. We’ll analyze dozens of images, share our insights and help you identify your “hero shots.”

  1. 6-14-2013: Will binders containing the PowerPoint slides and lecture notes be included? Otherwise, attendees will be so busy taking notes, it will be difficult to properly focus on the presentations. Kirby Training does this, and it has been very successful.

    • Great question and Yes! We will be working with our presenters to create folders with lecture notes and info. It’s not yet determined whether we will be able to provide recordings of the sessions to attendees after the event, but it’s something we’re looking into.

  2. Also–will there be any “show specials” by vendors?

Will this offer be repeated in Orange or San Diego counties?

    • Currently the only vendors associated with the event are c’t Digital Photography and Rocky Nook. If/when more partners come on board we will let you know of any special offers they extend to attendees. Our primary goal of the event is to deliver a solid and valuable learning experience infused with inspiration. . .and to have a great time. But, offering “show specials” is always a lovely bonus.

If attendees walk away from this event having learned a great deal and are inspired to go out and try new things with their photography, then we’ll consider it a success and hope to plan similar events in 2014. Orange County and San Diego are definitely on the list of potential places. We hope this answers your questions. Feel free to email us at if you need additional information. Session descriptions from the presenters are coming soon!

  3. I would love to attend but I live in Switzerland at the moment. Any chance for an online seminar on this topic in the near future?
